Doc Martens is a shoe brand that has been popular since 1960's. It started way back 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens had a skiing accident. He injured his foot and he wanted to develop a shoe whose style would increase his ability to walk until his foot heals. He came up with the design that had an air-cushioned sole and was made of rubber tires which had air trapped inside. The design became the first prototype air-cushion sole.The shoe however had a difficult time selling until an English Company of R. Griggs decided to give it a try. On April 1, 1960 the first Dr. Martean boot was produced and it continues to be a best-seller today.

Finally! The brand has a store here in Phils. Owned by Borgy Manotoc and Andrew Garcia. Would you have believed that their first store is in a trailer? Like a container trailer. What a catch! :p
